Another One Bites the Dust I

The concept of Another One Bites the Dust revolved around two types of creative blocks: the artist’s block and an emotional block. I explored these in relation to their biological versus artistic purposes. The project was my poetic and visual journal, born from a barren, empty place, symbolizing the struggle and eventual emergence of creativity from desolation. This duality between the biological drive and the creative impulse was central to the installation, illustrating my internal conflict and quest for expression.

Another One Bites the Dust was an immersive artistic project designed to evoke the overwhelming sensations of an anxiety attack. The exhibition featured a smoke machine, strobe lights, and sound to create an intense, disorienting atmosphere. At the opening event, attendees found it challenging to read the displayed messages or even breathe comfortably, a deliberate choice to mirror the suffocating experience of anxiety. This physical and sensory discomfort was integral to conveying the project’s core themes.
In the vein of Icarus, flying confidently towards a higher goal, Another One Bites the Dust metaphorically portrayed my journey as an artist. The latex wings represented my fragile ambitions that cracked and faltered as they approached their zenith. Stripped of rights and grounded once more, I found myself suspended between the heavens and the earth, capturing the perpetual struggle and resilience inherent in the creative process. This duality and the inevitable fall served as a powerful commentary on the highs and lows of my artistic and emotional endeavors.
